Juniata County Food Pantry

The Food Pantry has MANY opportunities to donate your time and talent! We need volunteers during our operating hours of Tuesday 9-5 and Saturday 9-12. During these times, volunteers are needed to assist clients, stock shelves, answer phones, organize paperwork and much, much more!

 

Throughout the year, we have many events that require more hands, such as the Thanksgiving and Christmas meal distributions. You know the old saying: Many hands make light work! We have far more tasks than could be listed here, and we have a use for every level of skill and talent! If you feel led to help out at all, please give us a call!

 

If you are from a local church, many churches sign up for a month, and their members sign up for a shift during that month. For more details, call the Pantry or check with your church!

 

CURRENTLY SEEKING:

SUMMER BACKPACK PROGRAM – People who like working with children and can give 3-4 hours a week through the summer helping children fill their backpacks with lunches for the week. Will also include registering families, sorting food and inventory.

 

 

 

SPANISH TRANSLATOR I – Person fluent in Spanish who can regularly work any of the Pantry's regular hours. Duties would include translating for our Spanish-speaking clients and helping them with their groceries.

OUTREACH HELPERS – Perfect for youth or adult service groups looking for a mission, but anyone can volunteer! Reliable volunteers for one Saturday 9-12 each month, either at Richfield or East Waterford. Duties include setting up tables and chairs, unloading food from storage and truck, organizing food for distribution, helping customers, then putting everything away again!

CUSTOMER HELPERS – People who like to help people! Duties include helping customers fill their carts with groceries and helping them unload groceries into their cars (if needed). Also some shelf stocking if there is down time. Hours MOST needed are Tuesday 8:30-12 and Saturday 8:30-12, but we'd also love to have you Tuesday 1-5!

WAREHOUSE & DELIVERY – A few strong people who like to handle cases of food and supplies, unloading trucks, accepting donations, storing food, stocking shelves. Should be able to lift up to 50 pounds without difficulty. Shifts available: Monday 8-12, Tuesday 8-12, Tuesday 1-5, Saturday 8-12
